Songwriting has been Joe's go to creative outlet to journal his thoughts and emotions since he was a preteen. Many songs stay unfinished as drafts in his notes app or voice memos, a timestamp of what his life was like in that moment.

Even when he is writing from the perspective of a fictional character, he ties himself emotionally to the moment to give as much authenticity as he can. This can make the process very intense at times, but the deeper he goes, the better the song turns out.

He may have had a year of vocal training in high school and a decade of piano lessons, but he doesn't consider himself a performer. Not anymore, at least. When recording these voice memos, he's focusing more on the storytelling rather than musical technique.

By sharing these songs, he's giving you a glimpse into his personal diary. His friends and most trusted collaborators have been involved with a few of the processes, though most of the time he is working alone.

He draws the majority of his inspiration from the sounds and techniques of his favorite recording artists and songwriters. He will curate playlists with specific emotional overtones to use as reference while writing, he also listens to these playlists recreationally. You can find a collection of them below:
